An error made tabulating votes Tuesday night means Republican Sam Pollastro, Jr. won’t be returning to the city’s Board of Aldermen.
On Tuesday night, Derby released numbers showing the following vote in the First Ward:
Pollastro, R: 375
Barbara DeGennaro (D): 365
Beverly Moran, R: 328
However, Town Clerk Laura Wabno sent an e‑mail this morning saying an error was made in the vote tabulation. The error was due to a typo on Tuesday’s nights results list, Wabno said.
The amended results in the First Ward now show:
DeGennaro (D): 365
Moran, R: 328
Stephen Iacuone (D): 326
Pollastro actually received 275 votes, according to numbers from City Hall.
In addition, Democrat mayoral candidate Dan Foley, Jr. picked up one write-in vote, bringing his total to 1,355.
Foley was defeated by Republican incumbent Mayor Anthony Staffieri was re-elected with 1,766 votes.
