On the heels of one long-time Valley company closing, another has announced it will expand operations.
Coordinated Transportation Solutions, an Ansonia company that helps people get transportation to and from the doctor’s office, held a ribbon cutting Monday afternoon at its newly expanded headquarters on Main Street.
CTS will be adding up to 24 new jobs by the end of the year, according to its president, David L. White.
The news comes less than a week after Healey Ford, another main street business, announced it would shut its doors after more than 60 years of business in the Valley.
“One closes and we have a company that is expanding,’‘ said William Purcell, the president of the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Purcell said he is pleased CTS is expanding.

The non-profit firm gets acts as a transportation broker, arranging rides for people in Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts to non-medical emergency appointments.
The company doesn’t have any vehicles, but has arranged more than 500,000 rides each year since it opened in 1997.
White said he started the company in a small space on Elizabeth Street in Derby with only four employees. They moved to Ansonia seven years ago.
The company now has 60 employees.

Monday’s event revealed the company’s new executive offices and expanded call center.
U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D‑3, Seymour First Selectman Paul Roy and State Sen. Joseph Crisco, D‑Woodbridge, were on hand at the ceremony Monday.
DeLauro said with nation-wide health care reform underway, Washington is now focusing on how to create new jobs and recover from the sagging economy.
She credited CTS for its role in both health care and job creation efforts.
