Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center is putting out a call for visitors to help spruce up the facility’s grounds during an event celebrating the reopening of a playground there.
“Take Your Child To the Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center’s Community Park Day” begins Sept. 17 at 10 a.m.
“Join us as we restore some of the grounds around our beautiful playground, continuing a long tradition of community involvement at the Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center,” a press release from the nature center says. “Kids can play and celebrate the fun new equipment and structures, while family members participate in groundskeeping!
The playground at the nature center was razed after a child was injured there in April and rebuilt in July largely by volunteers from Seymour-based Basement Systems.
Mayor David Cassetti and Patricia Tarasovic of the Valley United Way’s Corporate Volunteer Council will be on hand, according to the press release.
“Brush clearing, raking and pruning will take place, so bring your gloves, hat and bug spray, and make the area surrounding the playground look beautiful too. This maintenance will ensure the playground is beautiful for many years to come. Thank you in advance for helping your community.”
