The budget season is officially underway in Derby, with the Board of Apportionment and Taxation Wednesday scheduling a lengthy list of meetings to hash out a spending plan for 2010-11.
City department heads and the school district will be bringing their proposed budgets to the board for discussion throughout March and April.
Workshops are scheduled for:
- March 18, 24, 25, 29 and 31.
- April 5, 7, 12, 14, 21, 26 and 28.
- May 3 and 5
The board will vote to set a preliminary budget on May 11 or May 12.
A public hearing is tentatively scheduled for May 19.
Adoption of a budget is scheduled for May 25, with May 26 as a “fall back” date.
The budget must be created by May 31.
