Oxford Pharmacy Burglarized

Dumb a**.”

That’s what the father of an Oxford burglary suspect called his son Tuesday, outside of Superior Court in Derby.

His son, Corey Scardozio, 21, of Beacon Falls, was arrested with Jordan Krakowski, 21, also of Beacon Falls, early Tuesday for allegedly breaking into the Oxford Pharmacy on Oxford Road and taking about $1,500 worth of prescription drugs.

A third man, Dylan Owen, 20, of Wilton, was also charged by state police for allegedly participating in the burglary.

Scardozio’s father, who declined to give his first name, said the men were otherwise good kids who got into some trouble recently and decided to do something stupid.”

Scardozio and Krakowski declined comment outside of court after their arraignment Tuesday afternoon.

Judge Burton Kaplan released the two men on written promises to appear in court on Feb. 18.

The Burglary

Resident State Trooper Sgt. Dan Semosky said in a statement that police were notified of an alarm at the pharmacy at about 2:31 a.m. Tuesday.

The police arrived to find the front door damaged.

A perimeter was set up around the area, and Troop G was called in from Bridgeport with a canine unit, Semosky said. An hour later, two suspects were nabbed, Semosky said.

The third suspect, Owen, was arrested later Tuesday, when state police saw him walking along Route 42 in Beacon Falls. He was held at state police barracks in Bethany on a $40,000 bond, pending an arraignment.

Scardoztio, Krakowski and Owen were each charged with conspiracy to commit burglary, third-degree burglary, and first-degree criminal mischief.

Semosky said $1,500 worth of prescription drugs was stolen, with about $350 worth recovered.

The owner of the store declined to be interviewed, but said it was the first burglary at his new location. He said his previous location in town had been burglarized a number of times over the past several decades.

Kaplan Tuesday ordered both Scardozto and Krakowski to undergo drug testing and report for drug abuse screening. He ordered them to stay away from the Oxford Pharmacy as well.
