PODCAST: Marini Discusses Ansonia Referendum Proposal

Ahead of Tuesday night’s special meeting of Ansonia’s Board of Aldermen to discuss revisions to the city’s charter, the Valley Indy invited Alderman and Charter Revision Commission Chairman John Marini to record a podcast discussing the proposed changes.

The biggest proposed change has to do with the city’s budget process, and whether residents should have a say on the budget via an annual referendum.

At a public hearing on the proposals held the Aug. 20, residents again crammed Aldermanic chambers in City Hall to ask for a direct say in the budget.

Aldermen agreed informally, but suggested minor tweaks to the proposal that the commission met Aug. 22 to make.
