The Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority, in partnership with the Sports Center of Connecticut, is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a selected college student from Shelton.
The CRRA Shelton Scholarship is awarded annually to one Shelton resident studying engineering, mathematics or the sciences at an accredited four-year college. Preference will be given to a student with a declared major in the environmental or energy fields.
Previous winners are eligible.
To be eligible for the award, the recipient must be a Shelton resident and demonstrate:
- academic achievement in high school and college record of community service
- an intention to pursue a career in environmental engineering,
- environmental science or another engineering or science discipline.

Applications are due Nov. 16, 2009, and the scholarship will be awarded after Dec. 15, 2009.
Only Shelton residents are eligible.
