The operators of the Seymour Animal Shelter hope to raise $4,000 tonight (April 29) with a fundraising wine tasting event — money that will be used to buy cat cages.
“We have no cat cages, and can’t take cats,” said Deborah Ice, the animal control officer, who said she is interested in a feral cat program.
The money from the benefit will allow that to happen, she said.
The wine tasting runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at J.R. Sullivan’s, 557 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Tickets are $25 at the door.
“This is our first one,” Ice said of the fundraiser.
A disc jockey will play music at the event.

The Seymour Pride Commitee will also sponsor a bus trip to Mohegan Sun, July, 19th, to help raise funds for the Animal Shelter. Anyone interested can contact Kim Osgood at 203-231-6129 or kimberlyosgood@sbcglobal.net
Bungay Elementary School will be hosting a Pet Food Drive May 23-27th to support the Seymour Animal Shelter. Students and families can donate some of the needed items such as dry and/or canned dog and cat food, dog beds, old towels, dog shampoo, fleece blankets, flea medicine, cleaning supplies, dog treats, and toys.
