ANSONIA – An Ansonia man who killed his wife with an ax, and was found not guilty by reason of insanity, has been committed to the custody of the psychiatric board for 80 years, The Connecticut Post reported.

Kamil Zielinski, 31, was tried for the murder of Grace Zielinska in December. A three-judge panel found he committed the murder, but his defense successfully argued that he was in “the throes of psychosis” during the act.

Zielinska was 34 and the mother of three children. Click here for a previous story about her, and click here for a story from The Connecticut Post.

Kamil Zielinski’s trial was held in December.

Zielinski was moved to kill and mutilate his wife by delusions and voices that told him his children were in danger, a psychologist testified in court.

Ansonia Police Officer Peter Lovermi III was sent to 73 Root Ave. at about 1:40 p.m. Nov. 9 after Zielinski called and said his wife was dead.

“I killed my wife, please help her,” he said in a phone call that was played for the court.
