SHELTON — A small dog dumped at a construction site May 14 had to be put down, according to a post on the Shelton Animal Control Facebook page.
Anyone with information on who abandoned the dog is being asked to call 203 924 2501 and to then press 2.
The male dog was found soaking wet inside a cage at 5 a.m. Wednesday at a construction site at 1055 Bridgeport Ave., according to the post.
Workers at the site kept the dog warm by wrapping him in their clothes.
“We immediately rushed the dog to VCA Shoreline when we noticed the back end of the dog was not moving,” according to Shelton Animal Control.
VCA Shoreline is an animal hospital at 895 Bridgeport Ave.
The medical staff treated the dog’s pain and performed X-rays that revealed several injuries, including a fractured pelvis.
“After a very tough decision, we decided along with the doctor, that it was best to humanely euthanize him,” according to the post.
