SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from July 14, 2025 through July 20, 2025.

It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.

Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we track the case.

Seymour police received 362 calls for service and made four arrests between July 14, 2025 and July 20, 2025.

July 14, 2025

4:48 a.m. A MacConnie Court resident told police a dog was barking in the area and would not stop. Police said this is an ongoing issue between the neighbors. An officer said the dog was not barking upon their arrival.

10:04 a.m. A Mountain Road resident told police her ex-husband, who she said is not allowed in the house, was in her kitchen and she had video surveillance.

10:50 a.m. A South Main Street business owner said a car was parked in the wrong direction, with a flat tire outside of his business for three days. Police had the vehicle towed to a local garage.

11:52 a.m. A Bank Street resident told police he saw five juveniles trespassing in his swimming pool on his surveillance camera. Police said there was nobody in the pool upon their arrival. After a review of the video footage, police said they could not determine the identities of the juveniles.

4:57 p.m. An Old Ansonia Road resident said a group of juveniles were trespassing on his property and used his backyard as a cut-through to access the quarry. Police advised the juveniles not to use the resident’s property as a cut-through.

July 15, 2025

6:59 a.m. A caller reported hearing a fire alarm going off in the area of 57-59 New Haven Road. Police said the culprit was a smoke detector located in a nearby dumpster.

7:20 a.m. A caller told police someone appeared to be passed out in the back seat of his car on First Street. An officer said the individual was fine and was having car issues.

12:09 p.m. A manager at Stop & Shop on Franklin Street told police a pickup truck was parked in the median in the store parking lot in the shrubs. The owner of the truck was paged and removed the truck.

12:33 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a one-car crash at the intersection of Colony Road and Colony Road Ext.

4:02 p.m. Someone walked into the police department with a dog she found in the Tri-Town Plaza on Derby Avenue. The animal control officer was notified.

11:40 p.m. Police set up radar enforcement at Maple and Pearl streets. No motor vehicle stops were made.

July 16, 2025

1:35 a.m. The manager of a Bank Street business reported a larceny.

3:29 p.m. A caller told police his car was damaged by a large umbrella that blew over while he was waiting in line to enter a car wash on West Street.

5:59 p.m. A caller reported that his wife’s car was struck in the parking lot of Seybridge Plaza on New Haven Road (Route 67) and the driver fled the scene.

7:20 p.m. Police took a walk-in complaint from a Carriage Drive resident who said she was receiving harassing phone calls.

10 p.m. Police charged a 56-year-old Meriden man with violation of a protective order.

10:25 p.m. A DeForest Street resident reported that there was a possible car in the river. Police found there was no car in the river.

10:25 p.m. Police charged a 38-year-old Seymour woman with illegally operating a motor vehicle under suspension and second-offense illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs.

July 17, 2025

9:11 a.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver at the intersection of Maple Street and Old Ansonia Road.

9:18 a.m. A caller told police a man wearing green shorts and walking with a cane was walking up the on-ramp of Route 8 at Exit 22 and was concerned for his safety. Police said state police located the man on the ramp and there were no further issues.

9:25 a.m. Police received a walk-in complaint from a Country Club Road resident who reported her wallet was stolen.

10:40 a.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver at the intersection of Maple Street and Old Ansonia Road.

12:14 p.m. Police set up radar enforcement on Holbrook Road for about 20 minutes and made no motor vehicle stops.

4:39 p.m. A Jacko Drive resident lodged a complaint about his neighbors riding dirt bikes on their own property and said the dirt bikes were very loud.

July 18, 2025

1:52 a.m. Police conducted a routine safety check at the town skate park at the Seymour Community Center on Pine Street.

8:45 a.m. A School Street resident reported hearing a loud explosion outside of his house and told police he thought it could be a transformer. An officer reported no smoke or fire and notified Eversource.

2:35 p.m. Police responded to a two-car motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Holbrook Road and Route 188.

4:52 p.m. Police were contacted by a Peach Drive resident to check on the welfare of two dogs that were barking next door, after the owner was transported to the hospital.

11:52 p.m. Police were called about a suspicious vehicle parked on Spruce Street which was occupied by two teenagers. An officer detected an odor of burnt marijuana. The teens, ages 16 and 17, admitted to smoking marijuana, and called their parents to pick them up.

July 19, 2025

1:04 p.m. A Culver Street resident told police someone was posting comments about her husband online.

1:30 p.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver at the intersection of Bank and Franklin streets.

4:02 p.m. A Quarry Road resident told police he was concerned about youths swimming in the nearby quarry. An officer spoke with the youths.

6:18 p.m. Police received multiple calls about a man passed out behind the wheel of his car on Bank Street. An officer checked on the man and said there were no issues.

9:05 p.m. Police set up radar enforcement on Mountain Road and made no vehicle stops.

July 20, 2025

12:05 a.m. A Greenwood Circle resident told police that loud noise was coming from a house in the neighborhood and was unsure if it was people yelling or loud music. An officer reported there was no noise in the area upon his arrival but was going to remain to patrol the area.

1:02 a.m. A caller told police that two juveniles were walking on Route 8 by the jersey barriers near Wakelee Avenue. Police said the juveniles were gone upon their arrival.

9:32 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle crash on Maple Street.

10:22 a.m. Police responded to a medical emergency on Mead Farm Road.

2:33 p.m. A caller told police a child fell off his bike in the area of Columbus and Bank streets. The child told police he was okay and did not want to seek medical attention.

4:19 p.m. Police received a complaint about three juveniles wearing Crocs and riding dirt bikes that were weaving in and out of traffic on Maple Street. Police said the youths were gone upon their arrival.

5 p.m. Police charged a 29-year-old Derby man with risk of injury to a child and unsupervised child in a public place/motor vehicle.

6:18 p.m. A caller told police there was a suspicious man located in the gated area near the construction zone on Bungay Road. An officer said the man was flying a drone and it crashed on the field at Bungay School and he went to retrieve it. The officer reported no further issues.

11:41 p.m. A caller reported there was a large rock in the road near New Haven Road (Route 67) and Chatfield Street. Police said the rock was gone upon their arrival.
