ANSONIA – Here are some highlights from the Ansonia Police Department’s calls for service from Aug. 4, 2025 through Aug. 10, 2025.

It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.

Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we try to track the case.

Ansonia police received 443 calls for service and made seven arrests between Aug. 4, 2025 and Aug. 10, 2025.

Monday, Aug. 4, 2025

12:00 a.m. An officer conducted a traffic stop on Maple Street.

4:21 a.m. Police deployed a K-9 unit on Cottage Avenue.

9:26 a.m. Police arrested a 26-year-old man and charged him with violating probation.

9:46 a.m. Two officers were conducting radar surveillance on Beaver Street and Franklin Street.

11:56 a.m. Police were called for a possible drug law violation on Maple Street.

5:46 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Wakelee Avenue.

8:14 p.m. Police arrested a 51-year-old woman on Fourth Street and charged her with driving under the influence.

Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025

1:54 a.m. Police were called regarding possible suspicious activity on Deerfield Lane.

10:28 a.m. Police were called for a medical assist on West Main Street.

11:53 a.m. Police received a lost and found call from North Division Street.

12:39 p.m. A caller reported larceny on Woodlawn Avenue.

1:37 p.m. Police were called as firefighters responded to a small fire near city hall.

Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025

7:30 a.m. Police were called for assistance in response to a house fire on Division Street.

10:06 a.m. Police responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries on Division Street and Pershing Drive.

10:10 a.m. A caller reported a stolen motor vehicle on Main Street.

5:31 p.m. Police received a report of public drunkenness on Main Street.

8:54 p.m. Shelton police requested assistance from Ansonia.

10:44 p.m. Police attempted to stop a motor vehicle on Pershing Drive.

11:19 p.m. Police arrested a 30-year-old woman and charged her with two counts of second-degree custodial interference.

Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025

1:22 a.m. A caller on North State Street lodged an animal complaint.

11:24 a.m. Police received a report of a weapon law violation on Main Street, but an officer determined the report was unsubstantiated.

4:30 p.m. An officer conducted a traffic stop on Main Street.

4:53 p.m. Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Howard Avenue.

10:23 p.m. Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Benz Street, where they arrested a 44-year-old woman and charged her with driving under the influence and failure to drive on the right.

Friday, Aug. 8, 2025

11:27 a.m. Police attempted to stop a motor vehicle on Wakelee Avenue.

11:53 a.m. Police received a report of vandalism from South Cliff Street.

12:00 p.m. A caller on Maple Street reported shoplifting.

6:35 p.m. Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Main Street.

9:20 p.m. Ansonia police were called for assistance at Dollar Tree in Derby.

Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025

12:30 a.m. Police arrested a 28-year-old Naugatuck man and charged him with violating probation.

11:45 a.m. Responding to a report of disorderly conduct, police arrested a 44-year-old woman on North Main Street and charged her with second-degree breach of peace, third-degree assault, intimidation of a witness, and four counts of failure to appear in court.

2:10 p.m. A caller reported a disabled motor vehicle on Main Street and Maple Street.

5:35 p.m. A caller reported illegal parking on Holbrook Court.

9:52 p.m. Police responded to a juvenile matter on Cedar Street.

Sunday, Aug. 10, 2025

12:47 a.m. A caller reported suspicious activity on Liberty Street.

10:56 a.m. Police received a report of an abandoned motor vehicle on Jewett Street.

3:30 p.m. Police arrested a 60-year-old Derby man on May Street and charged him with third-degree assault.

8:04 p.m. Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Pershing Drive.

9:59 p.m. An officer conducted a traffic stop on Elm Street.
