DERBY — First responders rescued a person from Osborndale State Park Sunday (Aug. 10).
Storm Engine Co. Ambulance and Rescue Corps and the Derby Fire Department were sent to the 350-acre state park in west Derby at about 12:15 p.m., according to a Facebook post from the organization.
Crews had received a report of a person who needed help because of an unspecified medical emergency. The person was located and removed safely from the hilly and wooded terrain.
“Fortunately, the patient was not suffering from any traumatic injuries. The incident was identified as a medical event, and emergency medical care was provided on scene,” according to the Facebook post.
Storm Engine Rescue Chief Thomas Lenart Sr. noted the organization trains year-round for such calls.
“Thanks to our specialized equipment, including our UTV, we were able to rapidly reach and extricate the patient from Osbornedale State Park,” Lenart said in a written statement.
