DERBY — Police charged a 26-year-old West Haven man with carrying a firearm while under the influence and first-degree threatening after a road rage incident, according to a prepared statement issued Aug. 22.
Pablo Alexander was also charged with following too closely with the intent to harass, second degree breach of peace, and driving under the influence, according to a social media post by the Derby Police Department.
Police said they started investigating a verbal dispute that began with co-workers at an undisclosed location on Olivia Street on Aug. 18.
“Following the initial dispute, the victim began to leave the area in his vehicle when Pablo Alexander . . . used his vehicle to cut off the victim, approached the victim with a gun (in) hand, and threatened the victim,” according to police.
The victim fled but police said Alexander pursued the victim’s vehicle.
A Derby police officer spotted the chase and stopped Alexander.
He was detained and police searched his vehicle, where they allegedly found a gun under Alexander’s seat. Police said Alexander smelled of alcohol but declined DUI tests.
Police described Alexander as a family member of one of the workers involved in the initial verbal dispute.
Derby police noted witnesses came forward in this case. They asked anyone with additional information to speak to Officer Burke at 203 735 7811, ext. 585.
