SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from Aug. 19, 2025 through Aug. 25, 2025.

It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.

Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we track the case.

Seymour police received 247 calls for service and made seven arrests between Aug. 19, 2025 and Aug. 25, 2025.

AUG. 19, 2025

7:21 a.m. An off-duty officer reported a large amount of debris was in the road at the intersection of Broad and Main streets. The debris, including nails, was removed.

10:52 a.m. Police charged a 26-year-old Seymour woman with disorderly conduct and third-degree assault.

1:03 p.m. Police responded to a report of a German shepherd on the roof of the Balance Rock apartments. The owner was contacted, and the dog was back safe inside.

3:54 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident in the Stop & Shop parking lot on Franklin Street.

6:13 p.m. Police charged a 32-year-old Seymour woman with criminal impersonation and interfering with an officer/resisting arrest.

6:27 p.m. A Mountain Road resident told police someone in the area was burning brush in their backyard for several days.

7:03 p.m. A resident from the Balance Rock apartments reported smoke in the hallway of the complex. The fire department responded and said there was burnt food on someone’s stove.

8:30 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident near the Henny Penny gas station on New Haven Road (Route 67).

AUG. 20, 2025

8:08 a.m. Police received a report of an injured bobcat on Red Oak Lane. An officer checked the area and said the bobcat was gone upon his arrival.

9:09 a.m. A South Main Street resident told police about an ongoing issue with her neighbor about continually playing loud music. Police spoke with the neighbor and said there was no loud music playing at the time.

12:57 p.m. Police charged a 26-year-old Seymour woman with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and failure to drive in the proper lane.

1:14 p.m. Police issued a motor vehicle infraction to a driver on West Street.

3:21 p.m. A Day Street resident told police she was receiving harassing text messages from her ex-boyfriend.

4:44 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident at Bank and Wakeley streets.

6:57 p.m. Police were called about a man that appeared to be passed out in his car on Franklin Street. An officer said the man was gone on his arrival.

AUG. 21, 2025

12 a.m. Police charged a 55-year-old Oxford man with third-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

10:34 a.m. Police were called about an injured raccoon at the intersection of Botsford and Canfield roads. The animal control officer was notified.

12:32 p.m. Police set up radar enforcement for about 25 minutes on Mountain Road and made one motor vehicle stop.

1:02 p.m. Police set up radar enforcement for about 20 minutes on Holbrook Road and made no motor vehicle stops.

1:26 p.m. Police were called about a verbal dispute between a father and daughter behind Starbucks on West Street.

6:33 p.m. A Balance Rock Road resident reported fraudulent activity in his bank account.

11:25 p.m. A caller reported suspicious activity at Gary Park. An officer advised the parties there to leave the park.

11:55 p.m. Police issued a verbal warning to a driver West Church Street.

AUG. 22, 2025

12:07 a.m. Police issued a verbal warning to a driver on Bungay Road.

6:56 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a two-car motor vehicle accident near Henny Penny gas station on New Haven Road (Route 67).

8:12 a.m. A caller alerted police that there may have been a skimming device on the ATM machine at M&T Bank located inside Stop & Shop on Franklin Street. An officer checked the ATM and said there was some ‘sticky stuff’ or glue on the machine, but no skimming device was found.

9:34 a.m. The owner of a Bank Street business reported an ongoing issue about cars being parked in front of the business for longer than allowed.

4:36 p.m. Police issued a verbal warning to a driver on Holbrook Road.

6:29 p.m. A Highland Avenue resident lodged a complaint about hearing fireworks in the area. An officer checked the area and could not locate anyone shooting fireworks.

8:04 p.m. A George Street resident asked police for assistance after she locked herself out of her house.

AUG. 23, 2025

12:24 a.m. Police issued a verbal warning to a driver on New Haven Road (Route 67).

6:57 a.m. A Bungay Terrace resident told police about an ongoing issue with a neighbor who was running his lawn equipment at 6 a.m. An officer advised the neighbor of the town’s noise ordinance and said there were no further issues.

7:45 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Wakeley Street.

9:48 a.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver on Great Hill Road.

11:05 a.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver on Holbrook Road.

2:41 p.m. A caller reported his Jaguar for sale in his yard was vandalized.

4:02 p.m. A caller told police someone at the town’s dog park would not clean up after their dog, and an argument ensued. Police said the dog owner cleaned up the dog’s mess, and there were no further issues.

4:54 p.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver on Mountain Road.

AUG. 24, 2025

2:23 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Walnut and Maple streets.

6:22 a.m. A Manners Avenue resident told police a neighbor was leaf blowing since 5:30 a.m. An officer checked the area and found no audible noise in the area.

3:32 p.m. A Sagamore Road resident told police she was receiving fraudulent calls from someone claiming to be from the FBI.

3:52 p.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver on Holbrook Road.

4:38 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Bank Street.

5:13 p.m. Police conducted a routine safety check of Chatfield Park.

7 p.m. Police charged a 33-year-old Bridgeport man with second-degree breach of peace and second-degree reckless endangerment.

AUG. 25, 2025

12:09 a.m. Police set up radar enforcement on Skokorat Street and made no motor vehicle stops.

2 a.m. Police charged a 24-year-old Ansonia woman with second-degree failure to appear.

2:03 a.m. A Humphrey Street resident told police a car was illegally parked in a no parking zone.

7:34 a.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver on Maple Street.

8 a.m. Police issued a verbal warning to a driver on Holbrook Road.
