THE VALLEY — A plan has been hatched to modernize and expand the mission of The Electronic Valley, a community news site that predates Wikipedia by five years.

Kayleigh Mihalko, of Ansonia, was just tapped to be the executive director of The Electronic Valley, a site conceived, built and launched by Jack Walsh and John Joy in 1996.

Mihalko launched a new website, OurValleyCT, that will incorporate The Electronic Valley while becoming a modern voice of its own. Mihalko is modeling the site after The Daily Nutmeg, and expects the OurValleyCT emailed newsletters to be the new site’s lifeblood.

The Electronic Valley is already incorporated as a nonprofit, which will enable Mihalko to apply for grant money to help in the effort.
