ANSONIA – Connecticut State Treasurer Erick Russell will hold a speaking event at 2 p.m. Monday (Feb. 16) at the Valley PROUD Center (293 Main St.) in honor of Black History Month.

The event is open to the public.

According to an event flyer, Russell will reflect on the path he took from his youth in New Haven to state leadership, where he is the first Black, openly gay person to be elected to statewide office.
