DERBY — Police said two employees of city smoke shops were arrested on drug charges.

Police announced the arrests in a Facebook post, saying they conducted compliance checks at several shops.

Police said they found multiple violations, including “numerous pounds” of cannabis at Zaza Smoke Shop on Pershing Drive and High Clouds on New Haven Avenue.

Zaza Smoke Shop employees Hamda Alawdi, 25, and Abdelkader Brahim, 25, were both charged with possession of more than five ounces of cannabis and possession with intent to sell. Police did not include where they are from.

High Clouds employee Abdulsalam Albrashi, 52, of the Bronx, was arrested on the same charges.

Police did not say when the arrests were made and there was no information as of Sept. 25 in the state’s online court database.

The announcement was posted on Facebook Sept. 24.

Police asked anyone with information about illegal activities to call them at 203 735 7811 or to message the department through Facebook.
