Dorothy D. (Day) Andrus, age 87, of Shelton peacefully entered into eternal rest in her home on Tuesday September 23, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph W. Andrus. She was born in Derby on April 29, 1938 the daughter of the late Clarence and Helen (Murphy) Day. She worked as an accountant for many years at Levitsky & Bernie PC prior to her retirement.
In her early years she enjoyed going out to bowl with friends and regularly attended various ceramic making classes. Mrs. Andrus also loved to read books and attend Mass at church every week. Most of all she cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Ilene Thornberg (Thomas), her grandchildren Julie Kulikowski and Courtney Conway, her great grandchildren Nicholas and James Kulikowski and Jenna and Ryan Conway, as well as her sisters Bernadette Tonucci and Margaret Day- Francesconi. Dorothy was predeceased by her daughter Mary Andrus, her granddaughter Jennifer McLeod and her sister Janice Kuziak.
Friends are invited to greet the family on Friday September 26 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St. Derby. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 AM for her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Mary Church, 212 Elizabeth St., Derby. Burial will follow at Mt.
