Barbara Jean Poppa, 88, of Derby, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Bridgeport on July 3, 1937, she was the cherished daughter of the late Stephen and Rose (Severine) Pintek. Barbara lived in Derby for 55 years after moving from Shelton, where she and her late husband, Leonard J. Poppa, built a warm and loving home together. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose life was rooted in faith, love, and family.

Barbara was actively involved in her children’s lives, serving as both a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. Barbara was an integral part of Danz Magic. From early concepts to the day to day operations and also loved watching her grandchildren at their dance recitals. She loved playing bingo, crocheting, reading, and taking trips to the casino—but her greatest joy was time spent with her family and friends. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Barbara was the beloved mother of Leonard J. Poppa Jr.; Michael Poppa and his wife Sharon; Deborah Parlow and her husband Richard; Lorri O’Conner and her husband Floyd; and Alicia Sill and her husband Aaron. She was the proud grandmother of Stephen, Matthew, and Sara Poppa; Justin and Brandon Parlow; Alyssa Pompei-Grove; Tiffany Payne; Tyler O’Conner; and Mackenzie, Aidan, and Madison Sill. She was also a deeply cherished great-grandmother to Julia, Hailey, Emma, Leo, Paisley, Luke, Wyatt, Zoë, and Kallie. She will be fondly remembered by her extended family and dear friends, including Sharon Poppa, Mary Anne Poppa, and Ann Marie DelVecchio.

She was predeceased by her brother, Stephen Pintek Jr.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
