“Hello, my name is Daniel Hakins, and I’m raising funds to support my oldest brother, Roger, and his family as they face one of the toughest battles of their lives.

Earlier this week, Roger was hospitalized after experiencing ongoing abdominal pain and significant weight loss. After a series of tests, doctors discovered a mass on his pancreas and several lesions on his liver. On Monday, he underwent a procedure to biopsy both areas.

During that procedure, doctors found that the mass on his pancreas was blocking a bile duct — the cause of his symptoms. They were able to place a stent to relieve the blockage and complete the biopsies successfully.

Just a few days later, on Thursday, Roger received the heartbreaking news that both biopsies confirmed cancer in his pancreas and liver. His doctors explained that the tumor on his pancreas is inoperable, but Roger is strong and healthy enough to begin an aggressive course of chemotherapy in hopes of shrinking it.

Roger is now home, resting comfortably and ready to fight — because that’s exactly who he is: a fighter. On Friday, he gathered us together and said, “I’m a stubborn asshole, and I’m going to fight this.” True to his word, he’s scheduled to have a port placed this Monday so he can begin chemotherapy within days.

If you know my brother Roger, you know he’s one of the most selfless people you’ll ever meet. Even now, as he faces this battle, his biggest concern isn’t himself — it’s everyone else. That’s just who he is: the kind of man who would do anything for anyone; all you have to do is ask, and he’s there without hesitation.

A proud veteran, Roger devoted over 20 years of his life to serving his country. He’s a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend who’s always put others first. Now it’s our turn to be there for him — to stand strong and SUPPORT ROGER IN KICKING PANCREATIC CANCER’S ASS!!!

Your donations will help ease the financial burden of medical bills, treatment costs, and lost income while allowing Roger and his family to focus on what matters most — his recovery and well-being.

If you’re unable to donate, please know that your prayers, positive thoughts, and messages of encouragement mean just as much.

Thank you all for your love, support, and generosity.

With deep gratitude,

The Hakins Family”
