John Madzik, age 73 of Beacon Falls, died July 28, 2026 at his residence following a sudden illness. Born in Lubin, Poland on February 13, 1953, he was the son of the late Matthew and Martha Zawodniak Madzik.
Mr. Madzik was raised in the Village of Zimna Woda, Poland, until the age of eight. Together with his family, he immigrated to the United States in 1961 and settled in Ansonia, CT.
Mr. Madzik was a graduate of Ansonia High School and the former Waterbury State Technical College where he earned an associate’s degree in electrical engineering.
Instilled with conservative family values and a strong work ethic, John worked at Stop & Shop of Derby throughout high school and college, where he made many friends and lasting relationships.
Following college, he worked a long and successful career as a prototype engineering technician at PowerPack Inc. of South Norwalk, Picker International of Northford, Tri Source, Inc. and ARL Electronics, both of Shelton, until the time of his retirement.
Mr. Madzik was a lifelong member of Three Saints Orthodox Church of Ansonia, where he volunteered countless hours manicuring the landscaping and maintaining the church property. He was an electronics home hobbyist, an avid coin and stamp collector and enjoyed the quiet solace of fly fishing.
True to his conservative upbringing, he stayed informed on current events and was proud of his Carpatho-Rusyn heritage.
He is survived by his devoted sister, Mary Madzik of Ansonia; his loyal cousin, Paul Madzik of Bethel; as well as several cousins in Poland and Australia. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his aunt & uncle, John and Emilia Kuzmicz Madzik.
Family and friends may call on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM (Panakhida at 6:30 PM) at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Funeral services, meeting directly at church, will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2026 in Three Saints Orthodox Church, 26 Howard Avenue, Ansonia.
