DERBY — A 26-year-old man is due in court Dec. 4 after police lodged seven criminal charges against him.
Brent Washington, hometown not given, was arrested Oct. 31, according to a Facebook post from the Derby Police Department.
According to that statement, Washington had a warrant out for his arrest. Police said they spotted his vehicle in the area of Derby Avenue and Bank Street and attempted to make a stop.
However, Washington “attempted to elude the investigating officer by pulling into a driveway,” police said.
“Washington became irate and refused to communicate with officers or exit the vehicle, claiming that he lived at the residence,” according to police.
Eventually police convinced Washington to get out of the car and he was taken into custody.
Police then searched Washington’s vehicle, where they found a loaded handgun and marijuana that looked to be packaged for sale.
Washington is charged with:
* Operating a drug factory
* Possession of a controlled substance
* Carrying a pistol without a permit
* Illegal possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
* Illegal possession of a high-capacity magazine
* Interfering with a police officer (two counts)
