SHELTON — The Salvation Army Greater Valley Corps invites the community to its
annual Red Kettle Kick-Off on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to
10:30 a.m. at the Courtyard Marriott, located at 780 Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton.
The Red Kettle Kick-Off marks the start of the holiday fundraising season and highlights
the partnerships that help support families and individuals throughout the Greater Valley
area. The event will feature breakfast, stories of community impact, and opportunities to
connect with local leaders and supporters.
Tickets can be purchased at this link.
This year’s Kick-Off comes at a time of increased need. With inflation driving up the cost
of living and operating expenses, along with continued uncertainty surrounding SNAP
benefits, more families are struggling to afford basic necessities such as food, rent, and
utilities. The holiday season is historically The Salvation Army’s busiest time of year for
providing assistance—and demand is expected to continue rising.
“When people donate to The Salvation Army, their support stays right here in the
Greater Valley,” said Lt. Tatyana Fenton, Corps Officer of The Salvation Army Greater
Valley Corps. “Every contribution helps us continue offering food, emergency financial
assistance, and hope to our neighbors when they need it most.”
Lt. Tatyana and her husband, Lt. Josh Fenton, are new to the Greater Valley, having
joined the community this past June. They look forward to meeting more community
members and partners at this event and throughout the season of giving.
“We are grateful to now call the Greater Valley home, and we are eager to build
relationships with those who share a heart for serving others,” Lt. Joshua Fenton
added.
In addition to financial support, some locations may also accept food donations or
volunteers to help with seasonal programs.
