Peter J. Chevarella Jr., age 78, entered eternal rest on November 20, 2025, at Griffin Hospital in Derby. He was the loving husband of Mary Jo (Shumway) Chevarella.

Born in Derby on April 22, 1947, he was the son of the late Peter J. Chevarella Sr. and Anna (Palumbo) Chevarella. Peter was a lifelong resident of Ansonia and a graduate of Ansonia High School class of 1965. He was employed at Ansonia Copper and Brass in Ansonia since 1965 and retired as supervisor in 2007. Peter was a devout communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia and a member of its Catholic Men’s Club. He was also a lifelong member of the St. Sebastian Club in Ansonia. Peter enjoyed trips to the casino to try his luck. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants.

In addition to his wife Mary Jo, Peter leaves to cherish his memory, daughters, Jacqueline Kolodziejczak (Derek) of Johnston, RI and Jennifer Sanchez (Michael) of Naugatuck, step-son, Edward Platt (Alicia Buff) of Shelton, step-daughter, Carey Peltz (Jason) of Southington, brother, Carmen Chevarella (Carol) of Ansonia, grandchildren, Ryan Kolodziejczak, Rachel Kolodziejczak, Marissa McNulty, Breyana McNulty, Nathan Platt, Dylan Powers (Ashley Cummings), Casey Powers and Alivia Stonier, great-grandson, Dominic Lucisano, several nieces and nephews, and canine buddy Mickey. He was predeceased by a brother, Louis Chevarella and a sister, Lucy Chevarella. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses, doctors, and staff at Griffin Hospital for their compassionate care and kindness.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Tuesday morning, his funeral will begin at 9:45 am from the funeral home then procced to Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am.
