Mario Montepara, age 90, a resident of Ansonia since 1966, entered eternal rest on December 1, 2025, in the comfort of his home. He was the beloved husband of sixty-eight years to Maria (Francucci) Montepara.
Born in San Valentino, Abruzzo, Italy, on July 3, 1935, he was the son of the late Enrico and Maria Pascetta Montepara. Mario was a self-employed carpenter throughout the Valley area for many years and also worked as a crane operator at Farrel Corporation in Ansonia. Family meant everything to Mario and he loved spending quality time with them especially during holidays and weekly Sunday pasta dinners. He was skilled in carpentry and enjoyed making furniture for his family. His favorite hobbies included gardening, making wine and spending time at the beach. Mario was a fan of football and Italian soccer.
In addition to his wife Maria, Mario leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Enrico Montepara (Corinne) of Ansonia and Nicola A. Montepara (Debra) of Boiling Springs, PA, daughters, Linda Armistead (Joshua) of Ansonia and Marisa Brimecombe (Geoff) of Oxford, grandchildren, Michelle Andersen (Mark) of Orange, Cassandra Bystrek (Matthew) of Portland, CT, Christopher Montepara of Woodland Hills, CA, Courtney Montepara (Christopher Zombek) of Cranberry, PA, Taylor Montepara of Boiling Springs, PA, Christian Armistead of Ansonia, Brooke Armistead of Ansonia, Colin Armistead of CA, Ryan Brimecombe, Morgan Brimecombe and Juliana Brimecombe all of Oxford, great-grandchildren, Lukas, Dylan, Julia, Ethan, Landon and Olivia along with several nieces and nephews in the US and Italy. He was predeceased by his infant son, Joseph Mario Montepara, brother, Peppino Montepara and sisters, Olga Sacchini and Gina Cacciatore.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Saturday morning, December 6, 2025, from 8:30-10:00 am in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. His funeral will then proceed to Assumption Church in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. Interment will immediately follow in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery in Derby.
