Susan (Lessard) Ragaini, 73, of Bristol, wife of Thomas J. Ragaini, passed away on December 12, 2025, at Bristol Hospital. Born on April 27, 1952, in Bristol, CT, she was the daughter of the late Andre and Fernande (Angers) Lessard.
Susan was a lifelong resident of Bristol and a proud graduate of the first graduating class of St. Paul’s High School in 1970, having previously attended St. Ann’s Elementary School. She was deeply devoted to her family and especially cherished her roles as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Susan took immense pride in her two sons and found her greatest joy in their accomplishments and happiness. She was especially devoted to her only granddaughter, Angela, whom she adored and spoke of with boundless pride. A lifelong lover of animals, Susan was rarely without the companionship of her many dogs and cats over the years.
Susan enjoyed a long and dedicated professional career, working as a Project Manager for Cigna Healthcare in Bloomfield, Connecticut for 36 years. She was known for her strong work ethic, leadership, and commitment throughout her career.
Susan was actively involved in her community and dedicated herself to numerous civic and charitable efforts. She proudly supported the Special Olympics and served on the Bristol Democratic Town Committee. She was also involved with many local and statewide organizations, including Balloons Over Bristol, the Bristol Mum Festival, and the Connecticut Jaycees, where she had the honor of serving as First Lady from 1982 to 1983. Susan’s generosity, kindness, and commitment to her community left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Susan and her husband Tom shared 52 years of marriage, building a life centered on love, family, and service to others.
Besides her husband Tom, Susan leaves two sons and a daughter-in-law, Matthew and Jennifer Ragaini of Bristol, CT, and Nicholas Ragaini and his fiancé Kelsey Guminiak of Wethersfield, CT; her brother Paul Lessard of West Hartford, CT; her sister and brother-in-law Diane and Robert Bowen of New Hartford, CT; her granddaughter Angela Ragaini; and several nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on December 28th from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made by check to the family. All contributions will be split evenly between the Bristol and New Britain Dog Pounds in honor of Susan. Donations may be mailed to Nicholas Ragaini, 207 Spring St Wethersfield CT 06109.
