Karen Jean Scarpa, age 75, of Ansonia, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in her home. She was the devoted wife of 36 years of the late Adolph Scarpa. Karen was born in Middletown on July 6, 1950, daughter of the late Lance and Phoebe (Nelson) Parker, and lived in Ansonia for over 50 years.

She started her career as an LPN, where she met her husband. She transitioned jobs and became an Administrative Assistant for Ansonia Public Schools so that she could provide better care for her children and husband. Karen loved reading, baking, planting, and crafting with her grandchildren, who were her greatest joy.

She is the beloved mother of Matthew Scarpa and Barbara Scarpa and her husband Glenn Celentano, and cherished grandmother of Sophia, Santina, and Matthew. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her siblings Lance and Harriet.

Friends may greet the family at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby, on Sunday from 1 – 4 PM. On Monday her procession will leave the parlor at 10 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Derby. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Peters Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Scarpa Grandchildren’s Education Fund through the funeral director.
