Jennie DeGennaro, age 97, entered eternal rest on December 27, 2025, in the comfort of her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Dominic J. “Danny” DeGennaro Sr.

Born in Shelton on September 11, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Antoinette (Portente) Allegretto. Jennie was raised in Shelton and a graduate of Shelton High School before moving to Derby where she resided for the past seventy years. She was employed as a bakery clerk at the former Adams Supermarket in Derby until her retirement at age eighty-seven. Jennie was a communicant of the former St. Jude’s Church in Derby and enjoyed singing in their choir.

Jennie leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Richard DeGennaro of Derby, daughters, Luann (DeGennaro) Spaulding and her husband Dennis of Stuart, FL and Toni DeGennaro of Derby, daughter-in-law, Nanci Gay DeGennaro of Venice, FL, grandchildren, Danielle (DeGennaro) Colantuono and her husband Robert of Venice, FL, Toni DeGennaro of Venice, FL, Paige Joseph and her fiancé Christopher French of Dayton, OH and Stacey Passander of FL, great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jacen and Luc Colantuono and Kash Happy all of Venice, FL along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Dominic J. “Danny” DeGennaro Jr., and her eleven siblings.

Jennie’s funeral service and entombment in Mount Saint Peter Mausoleum in Derby will be private and at the convenience of the family.
