Josephine Rovinelli, age 98, of Derby peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday January 7, 2026 at Griffin Hospital in Derby. She was the beloved wife of the late Erminio Rovinelli. She was born in Shelton on August 23, 1927 the daughter of the late John and Filomena Sciarretti.
Mrs. Rovinelli worked as a Quality Control Manager for the W.E. Bassett Company for many years prior to her retirement. She was a wonderful cook, loved to garden, and was incredibly crafty. She had a knack for cross stitching and sewing as well! She was very active in the community throughout her life. In her early years she served as a Scout Leader for the Girl Scouts, volunteered at Griffin Hospital, and in her later years she served as a Chairperson for the St. Mary’s Lady’s Guild. Most of all she cherished spending time with her family.
Josephine is survived by her children Peter Rovinelli, Diane McLeod and Annette Laccone, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Dominic Sciarretti, Armida Criscuolo, Vera Wilhelmy, Louise Sciarretti and Catherine Andreini.
Friends are invited to attend Josephine’s Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday January 14 at 12:00PM in St. Mary Church, 212 Elizabeth St. Derby. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby.
