Michalene Helen Michrina, age 87, of Shelton, entered into rest on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Griffin Hospital in Derby. Michalene was born in Derby on October 26, 1938, daughter of the late Vladimir and Helen (Uzarski) Michrina.
She worked for many years as an LPN. Michalene was strongly devoted to her Roman Catholic faith and was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order. In her younger days she loved to travel to her father’s vacation home in Canada and she explored many amusement and historic sites with her niece and nephews. Michalene was an avid reader and a savvy bargain shopper. She was warm and generous, making countless gift baskets to be raffled at many church fairs and other events.
She is the beloved sister of Elaine (Michrina) Cigas and her husband Thomas, and cherished aunt of Amy Graziano and Joseph, Allan, and Michael Schaeffer.
Friends may greet the family at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby, on Tuesday morning from 10 AM to 11 AM. Her procession will then leave the parlor for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in St. Michael’s Church in Derby. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
