SHELTON — One person was injured during a house fire on Liberty Street Friday (Jan. 23).
The person had “minor burns” and was checked out by an EMS crew on scene, according to a statement posted to the fire department’s Facebook page.
Units were sent to the area of 17 Liberty St. at 8:21 p.m.
“Upon arrival of the first fire unit, heavy fire was observed from the rear of the dwelling,” according to the statement.
Derby firefighters were called in for mutual aid.
“Fire companies deployed two attack suppression hoses to the visible fire in the rear,” according to the statement.
The fire extended into the second floor and attic.
Three people were displaced and the Connecticut Red Cross was called to help with temporary housing.
The Shelton Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the blaze.
The Ansonia and Monroe fire departments provided coverage to Shelton in case additional calls came in.
