Carol J. Vansak, 91, of Oxford, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026. Born in Ansonia on December 28, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Tatiana (Zelum) & Timothy Spivak. Carol graduated from Seymour High School in 1952 and from South Central Community College, New Haven with a degree in business administration.
She worked at the VA hospital in West Haven before she met her late husband, Vladimir, at a church dance. They enjoyed almost 69 years as husband & wife, before his passing in 2023. After settling in Oxford in 1957, they owned and operated Vansak Poultry Farms in Oxford & Southbury for 22 years. After retiring from the poultry business, Carol worked as an executive secretary for Black & Decker in Shelton until 1992.
Together, she & Vlad traveled extensively around the United States, as well as to Europe, Mexico & Russia. They enjoyed going to Broadway musicals, dining out, and skiing in Vermont as well. Carol also enjoyed gardening, search a word puzzles, listening to classical music, going to buffets, and anything sweet to eat, especially creamsicle bars.
Carol was predeceased by her brothers, John and Michael Spivak, and her sisters Mary Bankert, Helen Klanko Graziano, Ann Dern, Julie Martin, and Annette DiMauro. She leavesseveral nieces & nephews.She will also be deeply missed by close family friends and caretakers, Ralph Tilquist and JoElle Anderson. Together they created many great memories.
