Dean C. Battaglino, age 33, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
Born in Derby on June 29, 1993, Dean was the son of FaithA’lee (Battaglino) Goclowski and the late Dean C. Benfield.
With a true entrepreneurial spirit, Dean was the owner/operator of “Dam Dog” Hot Dog cart and worked for Uber delivery service, where he enjoyed meeting people and making his own way.
He was a loving and sweet person with an unmistakable sense of humor and a gift for making everyone in the room laugh. Dean was fiercely loyal to his family and friends and was often affectionately known as the “defender of the undefendable,” always ready to stand up for those he loved and for those who could not defend themselves.
Dean enjoyed riding dirt bikes and, most of all, spending time with his family and friends.
His laughter, loyalty, kindness, and unforgettable and fearless personality will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
In addition to his mother, Faith, Dean is survived by his stepfather Jason Goclowski, his daughter Madison Smith, and Madison’s mom LaTasha Smith; all of Waterbury.
He also leaves his sister Destiny Rochon and her husband Justin of GA; his stepsister Robin Marquis and her husband of Naugatuck; his stepbrother Thomas Goclowski; his niece Aubrey Battaglino, and his nephews Colton Rochon and Grayson Marquis as well as his girlfriend Aschei Jackson and her son Legend Jackson of Ansonia and his beloved dog Kannon.
In addition to his father, Dean was predeceased by his brother Ryan Benfield.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 4:00 – 6:30pm with a service from 6:30 – 7:00pm at Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., Waterbury.
Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dean’s memory to assist his beloved daughter, Maddie, with her continued education may be made through Faith’s Cash App at $Faithaleegoclowski.
