SEVERE WINTER STORM UPDATE
Road conditions are terrible, and we are heading into the heaviest part of the storm, with snowfall rates of 2–3 inches per hour expected until approximately 9:00 PM.
Please stay off the roads if at all possible.
All Seymour emergency services are staffed and ready to respond if you need help.
Winter Safety Reminders
Generators
• Never run generators inside homes, garages, or near windows/doors
• Keep generators at least 20 feet from structures
• Make sure you have working carbon monoxide detectors
Fire Hydrants
• Please help us help you—clear snow at least 3 feet around the hydrant closest to your home
• Seconds matter during an emergency, and buried hydrants slow response times
Heating Safety
• Keep space heaters at least 3 feet from anything combustible
• Never leave heaters unattended
Emergency
• If you have an emergency, call 911
• For non-emergencies, please wait until conditions improve if possible
Thank you for your cooperation and support. Stay safe, stay warm, and look out for one another. ![]()

SNOW STORM SAFETY MESSAGE
From the Seymour Fire Department
A winter storm is expected to impact Seymour on Sunday, January 25, bringing snow and hazardous conditions. We ask all residents to take a few moments now to prepare and stay safe.
Travel
• Avoid unnecessary travel once the storm begins
• If you must drive, slow down and leave extra distance
• Make sure your vehicle has a full tank of gas, good tires, and an emergency kit
Parking Ban
• A full parking ban is in effect on both sides of the road throughout the Town of Seymour
• This is critical to allow plows and emergency vehicles to operate safely
• If you need a place to park, please use one of the schools or one of our commuter lots in town
At Home
• Keep heat sources clear and never use grills or generators indoors
• Make sure smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are working
• Check on elderly neighbors and those who may need assistance
Snow Removal
• Pace yourself while shoveling and take frequent breaks
• Push snow instead of lifting when possible
• Stay clear of roadways while plows are operating
Fire Department Readiness
Both fire stations will be staffed and ready to respond. If you have an emergency, dial 911. For non-emergencies, please use (203) 881-5152 so the 911 lines remain open for those in need.
We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.
Please stay safe, stay warm, and look out for one another

Calling All Friends & Neighbors!
From Seymour Snow Brigade:
With a really BIG snowstorm expected this weekend, the Seymour Snow Brigade needs ALL the volunteers it can get! Can’t volunteer yourself? No problem! You can still make a HUGE impact by sharing our volunteer sign-up form with friends, family, and community members. Every share helps us reach someone who can lend a hand!
Please share the sign-up link and help us spread the word!
Friday, Jan. 23, 11:05 a.m.
Due to the forecasted snow amount above a foot, we are issuing a 48-hour parking ban. The ban will be in place from Saturday evening starting at 7:00 pm and will be in place until Monday evening 7:00 pm. Any vehicle left on the street will be towed. We understand that there is a possibility of a lot of snow or possibly nothing, but we want to make sure we are prepared. Following the snow temperatures will be dropping as well. We will be keeping everyone updated through the CODE RED System and through the media. Thank you, Annmarie Drugonis
Jan. 23, 10:30 a.m.
From Seymour C.A.R.E.S. (town’s animal shelter)
Help us prepare for the storm! Our Chewy auto-ship may not come in time for the storm, and we are running very low on adult and kitten dry food. If you’re able to donate, please feel free to drop off any time in our donation boxes outside the building. Thank you!
(the shelter is located at 115 Silvermine Rd., Seymour)
Jan. 22, 3:56 p.m.
Due to the impending snowstorm starting this Sunday and into Monday, garbage and recycling will not be picked up on Monday January 26, 2026 and will be delayed by one day. Thank you and stay safe. Thank you, Annmarie Drugonis

From the Seymour Fire Department:
Mother Nature has had other plans again.
Due to the impending snowstorm, we are rescheduling Deputy Fire Marshal Rockwell’s Boot Drive to next Sunday, February 1st.
We know this is the second weather-related postponement, and we sincerely appreciate everyone’s understanding and continued generosity.
Those who wish to donate can still do so via Venmo.
Thank you for your ongoing support of Deputy Fire Marshal Rockwell and the Seymour Fire Department. Please stay safe during the storm.
