SHELTON — A woman accused of pointing a gun at her neighbors while under the influence was scheduled to be arraigned in court today (Wednesday, Jan. 28).
Eunice Berrios, 60, is charged with possessing a machine gun for an aggressive purpose, possessing an assault weapon, carrying a dangerous weapon, and illegal possession of a large capacity magazine.
Those charges are felonies.
Berrios was also charged with three misdemeanors: second-degree breach of peace, first-degree reckless endangerment, and carrying a firearm while under the influence.
According to a Facebook post from the Shelton Police Department, officers were sent to a multi-family residence on Howe Avenue at about 8:30 p.m. Jan. 25.
Police said they were told that Berrios pointed a gun at neighbors and made threats.
Officers entered Berrios’ apartment, according to the statement, and, during a “protective sweep,” found a Masterpiece Arms firearm, along with a large capacity magazine.
The weapon was not registered, authorities said.
Police also said they found a white, rock-like substance that tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl.
“While being taken into custody, she made additional threatening statements toward the neighboring residents,” police said in the statement. They said Berrios also appeared to be under the influence.
