DERBY — Police said a resident was arrested after pointing a gun at a neighbor during a dispute over snow removal Jan. 26.

Nakee Dickson, 46, was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and breach of peace.

Police were called to Olivia Street regarding a verbal argument. They said multiple witnesses told them Dickson pointed a firearm at the person he was arguing with.
Police said Dickson has a valid gun permit, but was the aggressor in the incident.

“Video evidence obtained during the investigation confirmed the witness statements,” according to a statement from police posted to Facebook.

The state was hit with a snowstorm Sunday (Jan. 25) that dumped at least 12 inches of snow — the first time the state has seen that much snow in five years, according to various media reports.

The cleanup is especially tough in densely populated parts of Ansonia and Derby, where on-street parking is the norm and residents have nowhere to put the snow. Front-end loaders and dump trucks were downtown Thursday (Jan. 29) clearing snow.

Derby police asked people to have patience with the situation.
