Valerie Ann D’Anna, age 70, of Seymour entered into rest on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Griffin Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of 44 years to Frank D’Anna.
Valerie was born in Derby on September 24, 1955 daughter of the late Edmund and Mary (Preneta) Nowakowski and was lifelong valley resident who resided in Seymour for over 40 years. She started her career with Sikorsky Aircraft before working for the Seymour School System, where she worked for many years until her retirement. Valerie was very active in her community. She was a member of Seymour Pink and Seymour Culture and Arts. Valerie enjoyed all kinds of arts and crafts. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to National Parks. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family.
She was the beloved mother of April D’Anna and Christina Balsamo and her husband Vincent, loving grandmother of Joseph and Jacob Balsamo and sister of Carol Goulette and her husband Robert and the late Mary Lou Woods. She is also survived by her cousin Cathy Wassell, her longtime friend Jeanne Waggoner and several cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Her Celebration of Life will be announced at a date and time in the future.
