Richard H. Chaisson, age 86, of Oxford, entered into peaceful rest on January 24, 2026. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Theresa (Flood) Chaisson, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and devotion.

Mr. Chaisson was born May 8, 1939, in Bridgeport, son of the late Wilfred and Angelina Chaisson. He was a retired machinist, having worked for many years at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, and was also the proud owner of Chaisson’s Excavating Service, LLC. Through his work, he was known for his dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic.

Richard was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran who proudly served his country. He was a volunteer fireman, Lt. At Riverside Firehouse for many years where he made wonderful friends. Music was one of the great joys of his life. A talented musician, he loved singing and playing the guitar in local bands and was happiest when sharing music with others. His home was often filled with laughter and song during the many cherished “jam sessions” enjoyed with family, friends, and fellow musicians. He loved animals and he helped so many over the years.

Mr. Chaisson leaves his loving family, including his daughters, Dr. Marya Chaisson and her husband Dr. Frederick Browne, of Oxford, and Colleen Threlfall and her husband, Bruce Threlfall, of Middlebury. He was a devoted grandfather to Katherine and Jacqueline Threlfall and Jonathan Torraco (fiancé), and a deeply loving great-grandfather to Liam, Mason, and Sophia, with whom he shared precious time and a truly special bond. His warmth, kindness, and gentle presence will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Griffin Hospital for their support, kindness and compassion. The Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home has been entrusted with his arrangements and there are no services at this time.
