Elizabeth “Beth” Kremmel, age 78, of Bethany, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026 at Griffin Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Bridgeport on January 9, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Burton A. Gale, Jr. and Ruth Elizabeth Corfey Gale. Beth was raised in Bridgeport and Monroe and was a graduate of Andrew Warde High School in Fairfield.
She spent much of her life in Shelton, Connecticut, and later in Monroe. For more than 30 years, she worked as a dedicated paraprofessional in the Shelton Public School System, where she supported and encouraged countless students and was deeply valued by colleagues and families alike.
Beth had a lifelong love of art. She was a talented painter who worked in both oil on canvas and watercolor, and in her retirement, she rediscovered her passion for painting and found great joy in returning to her artwork. She also found happiness in gardening, taking pride in nurturing and caring for the plants and flowers she grew.
An avid reader, she was rarely without a book in hand, often finishing as many as six books a month — a pastime that brought her both comfort and inspiration throughout her life.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She shared a loving marriage of 50 years with her husband, William F. Kremmel, Sr., who predeceased her.
Together they built a life centered around family and enduring commitment.
She is survived by her children, William F. Kremmel, Jr. of Terryville, CT; Karen (Michael) Skrtic of Bethany, CT; and Jennifer (Sean) Ahern of Mansfield, TX; and a brother, William (Diane) Gale of Northville, MI. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Alexander Ahern, Carter Skrtic, Liam Ahern, Riley Kremmel, Logan Ahern, Morgaine Kremmel, and Illyria Ahern; as well as her dear nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved deeply.
In addition to her beloved husband of 50 years, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Judy Gustafson, and her nephew, Matthew Andrews.
Her family will remember her for her creativity, love of learning, dedication to her family, and the lasting impact she made on the lives of those around her. Beth’s memory will live on through her family, her art, and the many lives she touched throughout her years.
Springtime funeral services will be announced by Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Interment will follow in Monroe Center Cemetery, Monroe. Memorial contributions may be made online to the Closer to Free Fund for Smilow Cancer Hospital
