SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from Feb. 23, 2026 through March 1, 2026.
Seymour police received 182 calls for service and made two arrests between Feb. 23, 2026 and March 1, 2026.
FEB. 23, 2026
9:43 a.m. A caller told police a large tree fell on Chucta Road and was being held up by power lines. Police notified Eversource and placed traffic cones and police tape in the area until the tree could be removed.
12:56 p.m. An Emma Street resident told police he was upset that a town plow truck pushed snow into two driveways on the street. Police said the plow driver did nothing wrong and advised the resident to speak with the public works department about changing the plow pattern.
3:52 p.m. Police received a 911 hang-up call from Davis Road. The resident told police his smart watch accidentally called 911 while he was snow blowing.
11:19 p.m. A caller told police someone was driving erratically on Rimmon Road and Maple Street and was heading into downtown. Police said the vehicle was gone upon their arrival.
FEB. 24, 2026
5:57 a.m. An employee from Microboard in the Silvermine Industrial Park told police several people were slipping on the ice in their cars and couldn’t make it up the hill. Police notified the public works department to sand/salt the road.
8:58 a.m. A Pearl Street resident told police his neighbor’s plow truck piled snow all over his sidewalk and possibly broke his fence.
1:26 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident in the Balance Rock Road apartment complex parking lot, which involved a snowplow truck.
1:45 p.m. A School Street resident reported that his U-Haul truck was stolen.
4:09 p.m. A caller told police her car spun out and got stuck on the side of the road near Mountain Road and Brook Street.
FEB. 25, 2026
7:43 a.m. Police were called to the animal hospital on South Main Street for a report of an alarm sounding. An employee told police a dog set off the alarm and there were no further issues.
3:07 p.m. Police were called to a residence on Robin Road for a medical emergency.
3:48 p.m. A Hill Street resident told police someone shot her windows with a BB gun.
11:20 p.m. A caller requested assistance from police after her vehicle broke down near Cedar and West streets.
FEB. 26, 2026
8 a.m. Police responded to the scene of a multi-car motor vehicle accident on Route 8 North near Exit 15.
11:05 a.m. A caller told police an employee from Allen’s Plumbing Supply was snow blowing the sidewalk on the Church Street side was throwing snow into the street. An officer spoke with the employee who told police he would plow the snow from the street.
2:44 p.m. A caller from Jimmie’s Place on Main Street told police a man was drunk and causing a disturbance in the restaurant. An officer gave the man a ride home.
3:36 p.m. Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving an Amazon truck on Hillside Avenue. No injuries were reported.
FEB. 27, 2026
12:35 a.m. Police issued a misdemeanor to a driver on New Haven Road (Route 67).
1:15 a.m. A Rosko Street resident told police someone broke into his garage, and he had video footage of the break-in.
8:30 a.m. Police conducted radar enforcement on Great Hill Road.
2:15 p.m. A manager of Stop & Shop on Franklin Street reported a shoplifting incident.
6:49 p.m. Police assisted with a disabled motor vehicle on Rimmon Road.
7:42 p.m. An employee of Newport Healthcare on Roosevelt Drive requested assistance from police with a minor patient who ran away from the facility. The individual returned to the facility on his own and was transported to Griffin Hospital.
6:30 p.m. Police charged a 40-year-old Seymour man with second-degree breach of peace and third-degree assault.
FEB. 28, 2026
10:29 a.m. A caller told police a woman was walking along South Main Street and stumbling in and out of traffic. The woman told police there were no sidewalks to walk on, and she was stumbling because it was icy.
1:49 p.m. Police received a walk-in complaint from a resident who said two Patrick Drive residents did not shovel the sidewalks in front of their houses. Police said one of the homeowners was in Puerto Rico at the time of the storm and would hire someone to clear the sidewalk. The other homeowner told police the plow on his tractor was being fixed and he hoped to clear the sidewalk soon.
5:44 p.m. A High Street resident told police someone was trying to break into his house. Police said the resident was intoxicated and thought he saw or heard someone on his property. Police said there were no signs of forced entry.
10:48 p.m. Police issued an infraction to a driver on West Street.
MARCH 1, 2026
7:30 a.m. A Woodside Avenue resident told police a man wearing a beanie and a black shirt was standing outside her residence and she was unsure what he was doing. Police said the man thought his friend lived there and there were no further issues.
12:21 p.m. Police conducted speed enforcement at Maple Street and Warren Drive.
1:37 p.m. A caller told police someone in a gray pick-up truck was hitting trees in the McDonald’s parking lot on Bank Street. An officer said the truck was gone upon their arrival.
5:11 p.m. A caller told police someone was driving erratically on West Street. Police said the car was gone upon their arrival.
10:51 p.m. Police charged Simon Hardison, 42, of Ansonia, with illegally operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and failure to drive in the proper lane.
