Jeanne Savalonis, age 71, of Ansonia, entered into rest on Monday, February 23, 2026, in her home. Jeanne was born in Derby on January 15, 1955, daughter of the late Anthony and Angelina (Veneziano) Savalonis, and was a lifelong Ansonia resident.

She graduated from the former Annhurst College in South Woodstock, CT, in 1977. Jeanne forged a flourishing career as a medical laboratory scientist at Yale for 34 years. She spent many years in the Hematology Department, then moved to Flow Cytometry, and eventually to the Immunology lab. She was one of their top techs and someone that everyone would always count on for help and guidance. In immunology, she performed a wide range of testing, including autoimmune and infectious disease work. She was precise and careful in everything she did, and her team truly relied on her skills and knowledge. Jeanne contributed tremendously to providing excellent patient care throughout her career, and she was cherished by her friends and colleagues at work.

She was a lifelong and devoted fan of the NY Yankees and NY Football Giants. Jeanne loved to travel, especially to Paris, and she explored her favorite city many times. She was also devout in her Catholic faith.

Jeanne had a quiet manner that disguised a warm sense of humor and she deeply appreciated and treasured the people in her life.

She is survived by her brother, John Rechi, two nieces Caitlin McLarnon and Megan Clapp, and many cousins whom she loved dearly.

Friends are invited to greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Saturday from 9 to 10 AM. Her procession will leave the parlor for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Michael’s Church in Derby. Burial will be private at Mt. St. Peters Cemetery, Derby.

Memorial contributions are encouraged to the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven.
