Robert Joseph Skirkanich, age 93, beloved husband of Mary Ann Fedorowicz
Skirkanich, died peacefully on April 6, 2026 at the Bishop Wicke Health Care Center,
Shelton. Born in Coaldale, PA on January 19, 1933, he was the son of the late Andrew
and Anna Benyo Skirkanich. Mr. Skirkanich was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of the
Korean War and was employed at Sikorsky as an assembler / riveter for 44 years, until
the time of his retirement in 1998. He was a Seymour resident of 66 years and a
longtime member of Three Saints Orthodox Church of Ansonia. Mr. Skirkanich used
his natural mechanical talent to fix just about anything and enjoyed home improvement
projects around his house. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the UCONN Ladies
Huskies, a collector of baseball cards and enjoyed pinochle and setback games with
friends and family. Mr. Skirkanich kept his wits sharp by using puzzle books and word
search games and would often watch the Grit Television Network to view his favorite
westerns. In addition to his wife of 66 years, he is survived by his devoted children,
Andrew Skirkanich and his wife Tammy of Milford, Joseph Skirkanich and his wife Paule
of Seymour, and Sharon Hurley and her husband John of Prospect; seven cherished
grandchildren and eleven cherished great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by
sisters, Jeanette Schwartz and Ann Esuchenko and brothers, Andrew and Leonard
Skirkanich.

Family and friends may call on Monday, April 13, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the
Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Services will take
place on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 9:00 AM at Three Saints Orthodox Church, 26
Howard Avenue, Ansonia. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM. Interment with
full military honors will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to the Seymour Ambulance Association, 4 Wakely
