DERBY — The Valley Indy Monday hosted a 45-minute discussion about the proposed Derby budget with city finance director Brian Hall.

A public hearing on the city’s proposed budget is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 in Derby City Hall and on Zoom. Click here for the legal notice, which includes the Zoom info.

Members of the city’s board of apportionment and taxation could make changes to the preliminary budget after the public hearing. A final budget must be adopted by the end of the month.

As it stands, the budget sets the mill rate at 38.86.

Hall posted a link to the City of Derby website that enables residents to look up how much more, or how much less, in property taxes they’ll pay under the proposed budget.
