DERBY: Joan M. (Solomon) Fiore, age 97, entered eternal rest on April 16, 2026, in the comfort of her home, with her loving son by her bedside. She was the beloved wife of the late Michael A. Fiore.
Born in Eynon, Pennsylvania, on May 24, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. Solomon Sr. and Theresa (Chmel) Solomon. Joan was raised in Pennsylvania before moving to Ansonia at age twenty, and she had resided in Derby for the last seventy-two years. She was employed for many years as an executive secretary for the former B.F. Goodrich in Shelton until her retirement. Joan loved spending time outdoors and gardening. She was also very artistic and especially enjoyed painting. Her greatest joy came from spending quality time with her family and making lasting memories.
Joan leaves her memory to be cherished by her son, Robert M. Fiore of Derby; her grandchildren, David Fiore Jr. of Rocky Hill and Katherine Fiore of East Lyme; her daughter-in-law, Mary Fiore of Rocky Hill; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, David J. Fiore Sr.; her brothers, Joseph Jr., John, Andrew, George, Thomas, and Michael Solomon; and her sisters, Margaret Esgro, Mary Motel, and Catherine Shander.
A private funeral service and burial at Mount Saint Peter Cemetery in Derby will be held. The SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia has been privileged with the arrangements. To sign Joan’s guestbook or share a memory, please visit, www.spinelliricciutifh.com.
