DERBY-SHELTON – The Derby-Shelton Rotary Club is proud to bring back one of the community’s most meaningful traditions—the 5th Annual Flags for Heroes, a heartfelt tribute celebrating the individuals who make a difference in our lives every day.
From May 24 through June 25, 2026, more than 300 American flags will proudly line the Derby Green and Shelton Veterans Memorial Park, each one representing a hero with a personal story—someone who has made an impact through service, sacrifice, or kindness.
This inspiring display invites the community to come together and recognize heroes of all kinds, including:
- Veterans and active-duty military
- First responders and healthcare workers
- Teachers, coaches, and mentors
- Essential workers and community leaders
- Family members, friends, and loved ones
New This Year
Sponsors now have the opportunity to upload a photo of their hero, which will be featured as part of the event’s commemorative display—bringing each tribute even more to life.

Community Impact
Proceeds from Flags for Heroes directly support local initiatives and charitable efforts led by the Derby-Shelton Rotary Club. In previous years, funds have helped provide critical equipment, such as thermal imaging cameras for local fire departments, strengthening safety and emergency response in our community.

A special Flags for Heroes Ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Shelton Veterans Memorial Park, where the community will gather to honor the heroes represented in this year’s display.
