The Seymour Public Library Welcomes CT Historian John Cilio for a free, in-person presentation“Roger Sherman, Connecticut to Capital Hill” on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 6:30 P.M. Registration is not required.

With his family in New Milford, CT and his work as a lawyer in Litchfield County, Roger Sherman entered politics as he was elected to the Connecticut General Assembly in 1755.

Sherman, always unwavering in his support for independence from British rule, is the only person to sign all four great state papers of the United States: the Continental Association, the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the Constitution.
