Louis T. Saldamarco, age 86, of Seymour peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday May 11, 2026 at Benchmark Assisted Living in Shelton. He was the beloved husband to the late Rose Marie (Romano) Saldamarco. He was born in Derby on July 9, 1939 the son of the late Salvatore and Matilda (Boni) Saldamarco.
He was a proud member of the United States Army Reserves. Louis worked as an automotive mechanic for many years prior to his retirement. Working on cars was more than just a job for Lou, it was a passion. He was an antique car collector and spent many hours restoring his antique cars with his friends in his custom 4 car garage. In addition to his passion for cars, Lou was also an amateur pilot who took great pride in the fact that he flew a North American P-51 Mustang Fighter Plane.
Lou is survived by his son Thomas Saldamarco (Dana) and his daughter Dr. Susan Buchek (Joseph), his grandchildren Joey and Sam Buchek, his nieces Gina Soldra (Keith), Jessica Sirowich (KC) and Stephanie Clifford (Lee), great nephews and nieces AJ and Sophia Soldra, Zachary and Tyler Sirowich, Mackenzie and Kolby Sirowich, and Connor and Molly Clifford, brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Antoinette Musante, and dear friends Tom and Beverly Rak, Joe and Carol Savastano, Gary Tuccio, Joe Miani, Paul Sardo and Dave Hodosi. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his son Daniel Saldamarco, and his siblings Andrew and Sylvia Saldamarco.
Friends are invited to greet the family from 4 PM to 7 PM on Thursday May 14 at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St. Derby. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home Friday morning at 8:30 AM for his Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in St. Mary Church, 212 Elizabeth St. Derby. Burial will follow at Mt.
