ANSONIA-SEYMOUR-SHELTON – A Seymour resident and an Ansonia resident were among four people arrested Wednesday (May 20) for allegedly defrauding the state’s Medicaid program.
Terry L. Choszczyk, 65, of Seymour, was charged with:
- Health insurance fraud
- First degree larceny by defrauding a public community
- Violation of license requirements
- First-degree conspiracy to commit larceny by defrauding a public community
- Conspiracy to commit health insurance fraud
- Conspiracy to commit violation of license requirements
Ansonia resident Kimberly Choszczyk, 38, also known as Kimberly Castillo, faces the same charges, according to a prepared statement from the state’s Division of Criminal Justice.
Both suspects worked at Advanced Pain and Regenerative Medical Solution Corporation (APRM Solutions) in Shelton.
According to the state’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, APRM Solutions produced more than $659,000 in fraudulent billings for allergy immunotherapy services to the state’s Medicaid program.
The claims were submitted for treatments that “were either not performed or performed by an unsupervised, unqualified person,” according to the chief state’s attorney’s office in Rocky Hill.
Allergy immunotherapy is a treatment designed to lessen the impact of allergies.
“The allegations further assert that Kimberly Choszczyk was performing allergy testing, mixing of allergy medicine, and administering allergy shots without a medical license,” according to the statement.
The fraud unit alleged APRM Solutions submitted about 4,000 problematic claims.
The suspects are free after posting $100,000 bonds. They are scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Derby on May 29.
