Gordon L. Bauer, of Shelton, peacefully entered into rest in his home on Saturday, June 13, 2026, his 95th birthday. He was the beloved husband of the late Thelma V. (Wyman) Bauer. Gordon was born in Derby on June 13,1931, son of the late Leslie and Lillian (Ahlberg) Bauer, and lived most of his life in Shelton, coming from Derby. He proudly served his country with the US Army.
Gordon was a mechanical engineer and had a lengthy career with Wyrepak Industries before his retirement. He was a Mason for over 60 years. An excellent golfer, Gordon was a longtime member, and Past-President, of the Highland Golf Club. He was also an avid gardener, particularly of hot peppers, and a member of Bow-Wow club.
He is the beloved father of Stephen Betts and Karen Betts, proud grandfather of Tessa-Rose Betts, Ronald Meeker, Stephen Betts, Shelby Valentin, and Danielle Parks, and great-grandfather of Madison Rose, Jaxon, Mason, Dante, Cooper, and Connor. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Sandra. Gordon was predeceased by a son, Robert Betts.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Tuesday, June 30th, 2026 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. His funeral service will begin in the parlor at 11 AM. Burial, with full military honors, will immediately follow at Riverside Cemetery.
